Kristen Walker

Kristen Walker (she/her) is a lifelong Baltimore city resident with a passion for outdoor exploration and conservation. Despite primarily residing in inner city environments, she has always been an advocate for protecting the environment, and appreciating the beauty of nature. Her interest in outdoor recreation was sparked when she became a member of the 2022 SoulTrak Outdoors Environmental Leadership cohort. This program provided a unique opportunity to engage in environmental stewardship projects while fostering community with other black and brown folks in nature, which jump-started her idea for Our Parks Too!

In addition to serving as an advocate for increased exposure to the outdoors and access within communities of color, Kristen is an animal scientist by training, a Ph.D. Student in Bioenvironmental Science, and a proponent of diversity in STEM fields. She is also a returned Peace Corps Volunteer who served in Cameroon, West Africa as a biology teacher and youth development programmer from 2013-2015.
