Martin Luther King Jr. Memorial

We hope to honor the monumental legacy that Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. left behind with our work for Our Parks Too! Dr. King fought for equality and thus we continue to fight for the same on our public lands. Whether it’s for increased presence in National Parks, the outdoors in general, or beyond. We hope that the message of peace, and fair and equal rights that Dr. King is memorialized for, reverberates through our mission.

I have visited this memorial several times over the years with many different friends and for many different occasions. This particular visit marked the completion of my FIRST half-marathon, the National Women’s Half Marathon! A fantastic feat that I never thought I could accomplish. I trusted my training, put one foot in front of the other, and got it done. Even more proof that the journey of 10,000 steps begins with the first one.
